Chiltern Mountain Club is New England's largest and oldest gay and lesbian outdoor organizations, founded in 1978.  Our trips page lists a variety of events, including hiking, biking, canoeing, kayaking, camping, skiing, and many other outdoor-related activities club members are leading.

Chiltern events are open to members and non-members alike, and activities range anywhere from an easy garden walk to a strenuous backpacking trip in the White Mountains.  We welcome people of all abilities and backgrounds, so there's no need to feel intimidated if you're new to an activity.

Chiltern is an all-volunteer group that strives to create a relaxed environment for people to experience the outdoors together and bond as a community.

Testimonials:

"Sturgis Haskins had a huge impact on my life in creating the Chiltern Mountain Club.  Years ago,  I found that Chiltern was a safe place to come to as I was going the process of accepting my gay identity and therefore my identity period.  Chiltern is a place to meet and hang out with others who share a common bond of life."  -Bruce F., Rhode Island

"Hello from Mongolia! Just looked through some awesome pics of day hikes, bike rides and weekend camp-outs with the awesome Chiltern members and thought I should tell you all just how thankful I am to have had those experiences. Can't wait to do it again!"  -Love N., Mongolia
